How my journey began…
PhD, CMPC®
Allie Dluzniewski
From a young age, I was always waiting for life to feel better. I had extreme anxiety as a child, but it began to ease when I started playing basketball. It became my sanctuary. Eventually, my passion for basketball led me to study sport psychology. This ignited a drive to help athletes with the mental side of the game, which turned into a PhD in Sport and Exercise Psychology and earning my CMPC.
Unfortunately, life still felt really hard and the hope of it getting better dwindled. It wasn't until I discovered I had developmental trauma that things began to make sense. This realization brought me to Somatic Experiencing (SE™), which led me to the understanding and relief I needed. SE™ expanded my focus from just helping athletes perform; I wanted to help people LIVE.
Movement has always been important to me, and I am passionate about helping people who become distressed during and/or after exercise. Through my expertise in exercise psychology and nervous system regulation, I now help others keep movement in their lives.
What makes SE special?
What I love about SE™ is that you don’t need to know or even tell your story. We primarily work with the body. Sharing the scariest parts of our lives with a stranger can be terrifying, and that’s the beauty of SE™—you can share if you want to, but we can regulate your nervous system without needing the narrative. We’ll focus on skills like orienting, boundary setting, breathwork, pendulation, and mindfulness.
